I always had a fascination with vampires. Ever since I was a kid. At first it was a wiggins thing. They terrified me; you know, scared of the unknown, scared of things that go bump in the night and all that.  Then it became something else. An undying (no pun intended) love for these mythical creatures that only seemed to exist in books, in movies or in my dreams.

I remember when I first saw the billboard; it seems like a lifetime ago now. I was working up in Hollywood at the time at this horrible job I hated, and there, on the 710 freeway, larger than life, was a picture Buffy and Xander, although I didn't know who they were at the time, with the caption: "Buffy The Vampire Slayer coming Monday's to the WB." (Wow! That was a long time ago.)

I had been a fan of the movie for basically its camp value alone, not to mention my love for the undead, (I was also a fan of Kindred: The Embraced way back when...I know, forgive me) so when I saw the ad, I couldn't wait for this new series to start. I kept telling all my friends about it, only to be met with that "look" (you know the one); even some of the vampire-loving ones were less than enthused. Of course now, they all have since eaten their words. So, yes, I was a devoted "Buffy" fan, and now "Angel" fan, from the very start. The non-believers have apologized and life is good.

There's just something magical about both of these shows. Aside from their supernatural aspects, which I truly love, they both possess something I hardly see in network television today; a true cleverness. They are smart, witty, and above all, they refuse to treat their viewers like idiots. A refreshing change from the majority of the crap out there today. And now, as we approach the 6th season of "Buffy" and the 3rd season of "Angel" I am still as excited as I was all those years ago. Simply stated: These shows have become part of my life and the wonderful people I have met as a result is phenomenal.

I know this doesn't say much about me personally, but I figured a little background as to why I think I might know a thing or two about these two amazing shows was in order. So, now I'll tell you a little bit about me (like you care..lol)

See, I was one of those return-to-school-cuz-I-couldn't-get-a-job types (damn, doesn't that sound familiar?). I had a BA in journalism which didn't fulfill my life like I had hoped it would. So, after a bunch of crappy jobs with no end in sight, I dried my tears, got some financial aid, and went back to school with my sites set on a teaching credential so I could teach high school English. So there I was, back in school as a graduate student, thinking that since I'm here, I might as well make the most of my return to higher learning, so I got involved, mainly with K-Beach Radio.

Anyway, this I how I met Candy. She was the one I was in contact with when I decided I wanted to be involved. After we first met, she told me she'd help me get a demo tape together. I remember that day very clearly (even though Candy is a little fuzzy on the details... she drinks). See, this is where it all happened. When I went up to see her at the old studio, I noticed her key chain. It was one of those square plastic deals with "Buffy" logo on it. I knew her show at the time was called "The Bronze" so being the genius that I am, I put the two together. Add it up it all spells duh. So after we discovered our Buffy kinship, ("You like Buffy? I like Buffy!" etc...) I suggested, half joking, half serious, that we do a "Buffy" talk show. Even though she laughed, she like the idea. Of course, we never really thought it would happen. (I think we were still a little shy about admitting to the  world that we loved the show. It had yet, but it was on its way, to achieve the following it has today.) But all I can say is thank the goddess that everything fell into place.

Hence, The Succubus Club was born and the rest is history in the making.

So now, after all these years, I actually am an English teacher at a high school here in Long Beach attempting to educate American's youth, and Candy and I are still doing The Succubus Club as well.  When I look back to where it all began, it seems like such a lifetime ago; it's funny how your life can change and things that you never thought possible become just that.

To strive, to seek, to find and not to yield.

Thanks :)
